Lee-Homewood Heritage Award

The Lee-Homewood Chiropractic Heritage Award is given to living pioneers who have made outstanding contributions to the chiropractic profession. The award includes a certificate and a Lifetime Membership to the AHC. Biographies and the nominations of most of the recipients are found throughout the journal, Chiropractic History. 

Nominations for the 2025 Lee-Homewood Award should be sent to the Association for the History of Chiropractic at 4802 Fairhaven Ct. Davenport, IA 52807. The deadline is January 1,  2025. Nominations are not carried over into subsequent years.

William S. Rehm Medal

Chiropractic students throughout the world are invited to enter the Rehm Medal Essay Contest. The medal honors William S. Rehm, D.C. (1920-2002), the father of the Association for the History of Chiropractic (AHC). The award is given for an outstanding unpublished essay by a single author on any topic in the history of chiropractic. The essay (maximum 10,000 words, including endnotes) must be the result of original research or show an unusual appreciation and understanding of problems in the history of chiropractic. In particular, the committee will judge essays on the quality of writing, appropriate use of sources, and the ability to address themes of historical significance.

The winner will be invited to attend the annual meeting of the AHC during the year the medal is conferred.  Registration, airfare (as set by the board but not to exceed $500) two nights in the hotel, as well as a year of complimentary membership in the AHC, will be provided for the winner. If the Rehm Medal Committee also selects an essay for honorable mention, its author will receive a year's complimentary membership in the AHC.

Students must be enrolled in an accredited chiropractic college or university at the time of submission.

Submissions must be made by 15 March 2025 to ahc1895@gmail.com. Papers must be submitted in accordance with the guidelines of the journal, Chiropractic History.

The Medal is meant to be an annual award; however, whether it is awarded in any particular year is at the discretion of the committee.

Gibbons-Wardwell Medal

Graduate and undergraduate students, especially in the field of history, throughout the world are invited to enter the Gibbons-Wardwell medal essay contest. The medal honors Russell W. Gibbons, B.A., F.I.C.A., D.C.(hon.), Litt. D (hon.) and Walter I.
